The Shift

June 30th, 2009 coachcharrise No comments

Steve Chandler speaks about people making a gentle shift, rather than thinking they have to "change" something about themselves.  I’m finding that this is absolutely true in my own life.

As my mind has shifted into possibility thinking, many new possibilities have come into my life.  When I’m focused on what I don’t have, I come from a place of need.  When I focus on the abundance in my life, I attract more abundance.  I always knew this was true from an intellectual standpoint; I’ve studied quantum physics and I know how energy works.  What was missing for me was the deep down, organic, heart centered belief that I deserved success and abundance.

When I shifted that one belief, everthing in my life shifted.

I see this sort of thing happening with clients every day.  One of my clients has always wanted a Steinway Grand Piano.  His belief was that it was financially out of reach. Our work together showed him that it was within reach, and he has since acquired the dream piano.  His shift was simple – he chose to believe the piano was his, and he made it happen.

Do you ever feel like you are so close to something – and so far away at the same time?  Like you know that something big is coming, and it’s not arriving soon enough?  That premonition is real, and it’s amazing when you are open minded and open hearted enough to greet it with arms wide open.  It’s a simple shift; expecting that good things are coming your way all the time because you’re meant for abundance. And knowing that the wait is part of the bigger plan.

Thinking about shifting rather than changing is a powerful way to approach your life.  How can you shift so that you are attracting the kind of life you want?

Pretending Not To Know

June 22nd, 2009 coachcharrise No comments

Sometimes I’m the only person in someone’s life that will tell them the truth about something.  Sometimes, this is the single most powerful reason for them to take on coaching with me – because they’ve realized how much momentum their life takes on when they are committed to facing what is true. And sometimes, as it happens, it’s the single most powerful reason for them NOT to take on coaching with me.  One can either believe the truth hurts, or that the truth sets us free.  It’s a choice.

How do I know what’s true?  I don’t always know.  I do trust and obey my strong sense of intuition, and I’m not afraid to say what I’m thinking.  Even if I’m wrong, or not exactly right, my directness steers our conversation onto a new path, where our inquiry leads to what is really true.

Some people don’t actually want to know the truth.  Knowing the truth then requires responsibility about something – new action that can be taken in light of the enlightenment.  Many people would rather hide behind untruths as long as possible – staying in the world of reason rather than the world of performance.

While I’m not making anyone wrong, I do know that all good things are created in the world of performance.  Things and people move forward, evolving ideas, creating opportunities, developing deeper relationships of love and trust.  These things don’t happen when we’re busy making excuses for lack of performance.

What are you pretending not to know?  How can I help you see?

Love, Acceptance and Hope

June 17th, 2009 coachcharrise No comments

I’m honored with the privilege of spending much of this week in San Diego, training and coaching a group of people whose jobs are to serve the public with job services.  I’m amazed at the level of commitment these people have to the customer experience.

They work with people who are in job transition, providing life-changing guidance and service to people when they need it the most.  It’s easy to see that they care deeply for their customers and that their heart is overflowing with their commitment to serve.

As is the case in most organizations there are areas for improvement.  I’m here to help them see the benefits of having fearless conversations.  I’m teaching them Steve Chandler’s transformational shift from victim to owner thinking.  I’m giving them strategies to reduce their stress, by introducing them to "The Work" created by Byron Katie.  I am committed to showing up in a powerful way, so that they may see openings for inspired action to cultivate the greatness that I know is inside of them.

I’m inspired by these people, and as the facilitator for the next few days, I’m certain I’ll learn from them as much as I teach.  The investment they’re making in terms of time, money, and energy is significant.  I’m holding a space for the experience to be magnificent for each and every participant.

Their clients crave love, acceptance and hope.  When the staff that’s serving them can come from a place of love, acceptance and hope in their own lives, they are much more able to generously give that back to those they serve.

I’m a stand for people coming from that place.  My life is devoted to that practice of life transformation.  I’ll settle for nothing less.
